Qualitative Fit Testing
N-95 and Half-face Respirators
Note: Participants MUST be clean-shaven to do a proper fit test. Facial hair will not allow the respirator to seal properly.
As defined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), qualitative fit testing (QLFT) is a method used to evaluate the adequacy of the fit of a respirator on an individual. This test involves the use of a test agent (e.g., a taste or odor) that the wearer can detect if there is a leak in the respirator. The test is considered "qualitative" because it relies on the wearer’s subjective sensory response to the test agent to determine whether the respirator is properly sealed.
Quantitative Fit Testing
SERVICE COMING SOON!
QNFT is required for negative-pressure full facepiece respirators used in environments where the concentration is greater than 10 times the occupational exposure limit.
While we don’t currently offer QNFT services, we’re working on adding them soon. In the meantime, we can recommend a provider for your full-face respirator wearers.
